Is it okay to smack your child?

"The definition of smack is "strike someone, typically with the palm of the hand as a punishment." Regardless of the individual law in your country on smacking, do you believe that is it right or wrong. Is any sort of physical act of punishment on a child to enforce discipline wrong. Or, is it acceptable to use a small amount of physical punishment to enforce discipline when all other options have failed.".
