Was Turkey right to attack Syria?

"When Turkish war-planes entered Syrian airspace and Turkish ground troops crossed the border, was their action justified. Does Turkey have a right to create a buffer zone within Syrian territory. Or, has Turkey been over aggressive and should diplomacy/other methods be deployed and direct action only be done with international approval.".
