Currently there are no rules on the pay per hour that under 16's get paid, according to the government (www.gov.uk): "School-aged children are not entitled to the National Minimum Wage". But, there is a number of employers employing under 16 year old's on different hourly rates to under 18 year old's but doing the same job. Is this double standard acceptable. This question is not focused on other factors like maximum number of hours a pre-16 can work and other differences designed to protect a child in the workplace. Its focus is on different aged pre-18 years old's, getting different levels of pay per hour for the same job.
