Should there be harsh punishments for coronavirus profiteers?

"From Petrol to hand soap to toilet roll, there have been many stories of big price rises on must have goods. Is this right and fair that people are profiteering during this time of world crisis. Should there be harsh punishments for businesses that hike prices on goods just because there is huge demand for them. Alternatively, is this just the nature of supply and demand and businesses have a right to sell at the price they choose.".
