Should you be able to go to University if you receive low 'A' level results?

We provided additional information for the question which was:

"It has been reported on www.tes.com that students are being allowed on university courses with passes as low as a 'Grade E'. Is this acceptable or does everyone have the right to attend a university. Should universities have a discretionary element to the decision or should students meet a minimum and have to resit 'A' levels if they want to go.".

The available answers for this questions were:

2. Yes - grades should be part of the acceptance, but there should be a discretionary element by the university

3. No - it should be a level playing field with everyone meeting the same sensible minimum level
